Early Check-Out & Late Check-In Procedures
If your student needs to leave early or arrive late, please send a note with the following information:
- Student's First and Last Name
- Grade
- Date and Time of Check-In/Check-Out
- Reason for Absence
- Parent Name and Contact Phone Number
Important Notes:
- All check-outs for doctor, court, etc. are UNEXCUSED until a valid note or legal document is received.
- Students have 5 school days to submit documentation.
- Attendance drop boxes are located in each hallway and in the front office.
- You may fax notes to 678-513-3877.
- Please verify receipt of your excuse in Parent Portal.
Excused Absences & Tardies
Absences and tardies will only be excused for the following reasons:
- Personal illness
- Serious illness or death in the immediate family
- Medical or dental appointments
- Mandated by a governmental agency
- Religious holidays (see Forsyth County BOE website for approved dates)
- Unsafe weather conditions
- Registering to vote or voting
- Visiting a legal guardian called to active duty
Unexcused Absences & Tardies
The following will NOT be excused:
- Oversleeping / Broken alarm
- Car trouble
- Missing the bus
- Completing homework or projects
- Babysitting
- Unexplained family emergencies
- Other similar reasons
Submitting Excuse Notes
Notes must be submitted within 5 school days via:
- Fax: 678-513-3877 (Attn: Attendance)
- Email: dworley@forsyth.k12.ga.us
- Attendance Boxes: Located in hallways and front office
Each note should include:
- Student's First and Last Name
- Grade
- Date of Absence
- Reason for Absence
- Parent Name and Contact Phone Number
