6th Grade

Sixth-grade math focuses on three main areas: numerical reasoning, algebraic reasoning, and geometric reasoning. Students build on prior knowledge by working with whole numbers, fractions, decimals, and negative numbers. They explore patterns, solve one-step equations and inequalities, and apply math to real-world problems. Geometry topics include complex shapes and volume. Throughout the course, students strengthen problem-solving skills and logical thinking using mathematical practices and modeling.

7th Grade

Seventh-grade math emphasizes four key areas: numerical reasoning, probability, algebra and patterns, and geometry. Students work with rational numbers, positive and negative numbers, and probability models to explain real-world situations. They develop algebra skills by rewriting expressions, solving multistep equations and inequalities, and applying proportional relationships to percent problems and scale drawings. Geometry topics include circles, 3D shapes, and angle relationships. The course builds on previous knowledge, using algebra to deepen understanding of geometry while reinforcing problem-solving skills.

8th Grade

Eighth-grade math covers four main areas: numerical reasoning, functions and graphs, algebra and patterns, and geometry. The course emphasizes functions and linear relationships as foundations for algebra and geometry. Students work with linear equations and inequalities, explore proportional and nonproportional relationships, apply exponents and scientific notation, and analyze irrational numbers. They also use the Pythagorean Theorem to solve geometric problems, developing a deeper understanding of mathematical concepts.
